Thanks for visiting dunkbonds.com, the dormant Rails app I built to gamify charitable contributions toward personal goals, piloted around my goal to dunk. You'll notice I have made zero effort to update its style, so it still harkens back to its original 2011-era mint.com inspiration, when it was likely already looking pretty dated. Have a click around!

Embracing The DUNKblog

Up to this point, I've only posted milestones and larger updates, but I've decided to post more frequently about the day-to-day experience of project DUNK.  Things like training progress/strategies/updates, if I'm hitting my diet goals, and associated potpourri.  I'll do my best to categorize based on major and minor updates.

I'm also using a blogging service, rather than building one from scratch, for obvious reasons.  DUNKbonds.com will still be the hub, and I'll pull the blog feed into the site, but it's vastly easier to post and publicize using something like Blogger, Tumblr, etc.

Stay tuned.

Dunked a Softball! And a Donut!

I've now completed milestone two, and I threw in some Dunkin' Donuts action for dessert.
  • tennis ball
  • softball
  • Disney Princess Ball (a new addition to the progression)
  • mini basketball
  • volleyball
  • regulation basketball
It wasn't my best jumping day, but I got the job done. Close, but no cigar on the Disney ball.

And, of course, The Donut:

Dunked a Tennis ball

On Friday afternoon I dunked a tennis ball for the first time, and fairly easily. This is the first of a progression of milestones, with the sequence being:
  • tennis ball
  • softball
  • mini basketball
  • volleyball
  • and finally, the real deal.
Felt good to throw down something, anything.

And a screengrab of the apex:
